PHOTOGRAPHIC INTERESTS

I've taken photographs all my life. I must have picked up a camera almost as soon as I could walk - possibly sooner! A keen amateur astronomer,

meteorologist and geologist from childhood, I photographed the sky through an assortment of telescopes, snowflakes & crystalline rock specimens

through a microscope.

I've always had a fascination for the patterns in nature, symmetry and supersymmetry, shadows and reflections. I delight in colour and the ever

changiing seasons. I love woodlands, trees and wildflowers and particularly enjoy taking macro (close-up) portraits of botanical subjects and

reflective raindrops.

During the 1990s to 2000s, whilst renovating a succession of Victorian and Edwardian houses & their contents in the Arts & Crafts

style (a major passion of mine) and creating fitting gardens to accompany them, I concentrated on photographing plants & gardens, vernacular

architecture and architectural details.  From the 2010s I revived my interest in geology and my landscape photography reflects this.

CAREER PATH

Earth Science photography was my career choice upon leaving school. I studied photography at Barking College of Technology (the leading British

City & Guilds course at the time - the early 1980's). Sidetracked into curating mineral specimens at the British Museum (Natural History) and the

Geological Museum for the next few years, I then ran my own business for over 25 years, making gemstone-set historically-based jewellery for the

gift shops of British Cathedrals and Abbeys. Sourcing and renovating authentic Arts & Crafts fireplaces, tiles, stained glass, hardware, furniture and

lighting for the houses that I've been renovating during this time also led to specialist internet-based mail order businesses which have kept me busy.

For over 25 years, I have grown Old English & French roses, heritage fruit varieties and unusual perennial plants, which I have sold by mail order on eBay.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

In 2012, I decided my return to professional photography was too long overdue! Over the next two years, I undertook the mammoth task of sorting my

digital image archive and making it available online. I have since scanned in high-resolution all my pre-digital 35mm slides of landscapes subjects, which have

also been added (pre-digital architectural images to follow one day!). I joined the image library fotoLibra, built a Portfolio there and became a Partner Member.

In 2013, I built a website with PhotoShelter, where a small selection of my images are available as digital downloads (I can upload any additional images from

my photo archive that you wish to purchase). My own photo website here at Wix soon followed.

I produce an exclusive range of mounted photographic prints and greetings cards, to which I will be adding photo books in the near future.

A selection of mounted & unmounted prints and greetings cards is available from me directly and on eBay.
